FAQs
What can I frame?
Pretty much anything! Photos, paintings, diplomas, documents, memorabilia, sports jerseys, keepsakes, collectibles… the list goes on. If it’s something you cherish and want to display, we’ll find a way to make it happen. Check out our Project Gallery for some examples, and maybe some inspiration!
Can I have artwork shipped to your location?
Absolutely. Just give us a heads-up that It’s coming and make sure the shipper includes your name on the packaging, and we’ll let you know as soon as it arrives.
Do you sell framed artwork?
It’s not the main part of our business, but we do have framed art hanging on the wall as examples of some of the things we can do, and it’s all for sale!
Can you print my artwork or image for me?
Yes! While we do not print in house, we have multiple vendors that we work closely with to provide the best quality prints available.
Do you stretch canvases?
Every day in any size.
Can you frame large canvases?
Yes, we can. We regularly frame canvases of any size.
Do you offer custom mirrors?
Yes, we can create a custom mirror in any size using any frame in our collection, including circular and oval mirrors.
Can I get just a matboard or a piece of glass?
Yes, we can provide these, often same day, if not normally within a few days.
What are your frames made of?
The majority of the frames that we sell are solid wood. We also sell aluminum, steel, and even acrylic frames. We do NOT sell polystyrene frames.
What is conservation framing?
We strive to do our best to preserve your treasures and that involves using materials and methods that protect your artwork from deterioration due to environmental factors such as UV light as well as temperature and humidity. All materials used at Reed Arts are considered “acid free” or ph neutral. This means that the materials themselves will not cause damage to your artwork, and as much as possible our methods are reversible so that they do not cause any permanent changes to your artwork which can affect the value.
What kind of matting options do you have?
We carry a wide variety of matting in hundreds of shades and fabrics from multiple vendors, including Crescent, Arquati, and Rising, all of which are considered Conservation Quality. We do not sell decorative or paper mats, which can harm artwork due to their acid content.
What kind of glass do you use?
We sell TruVue and ArtGlass by Groglass, as well as acrylic glazing from Acrylite. All of our glazing options are selected to give you the best view of your art while providing protection from harmful UV rays. Exposure to UV light is one of the main causes of fading and discoloration of framed artwork.
Can I choose whether I use glass or acrylic in my frame?
Recommendations and guidance will be given based on the size of any given job as well as other factors. If a client chooses glass in a size we do not recommend, it will be at the client’s own risk.
What is float mounting?
Often, we want to display a piece of art without obscuring any part of it. Traditional matting covers a little bit of the edge of the image, while floating does not. Floating your artwork allows you to see and appreciate the entire piece, while still supporting it and preserving it.
How large or small can you frame?
If it fits through our doors, we’ll frame it (and we’ve got pretty big doors). Seriously. But it wouldn’t hurt to call ahead so we can make a safe space for your work. We’ve framed items an inch big up to several feet and beyond.
Is framing expensive?
Picture framing does not have to be expensive. In general, the cost of your project will depend on the total size of your piece and your selection of a number of components (frame, mat/s, glass, specialty details)
We believe in transparent pricing. Our diverse range of design options enables us to work with every budget. Detailed no cost quotes are always available to you before a decision is made.
What payment options do you accept?
Cash, major credit cards, and checks are all welcome. We accept Apple Pay and Google Pay as well.
Can I get an estimate?
Since our work is custom to each piece, we need to see the artwork and have options selected to be able to give you an accurate quote. The last thing we want to do is make a guess or give an inaccurate quote. Design consultations and quotes are always free.
When will my order be complete?
The timeframe depends on the complexity of the project and materials required. Our average delivery date for a finished project is 2-3 weeks for in-stock or readily available materials. Timeframes are longer for materials that may be back-ordered, hand-finished or a specialty order.
Do you accommodate rush orders?
If you’re in a rush, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Rush orders limit the framing options available to you and greatly depend on availability and workload.
How do I know when my order is ready?
Once your project is ready, we will reach out via phone or email, whichever works best for you. If we are running behind schedule or something is back ordered, we will contact you promptly.
How quickly do I need to pick up my project?
While we want you to enjoy your project as soon as possible, we understand that sometimes circumstances delay a pickup. We are happy to hold your project for as long as you need us to. We will check in periodically with a gentle reminder if it has been months. We can also arrange delivery if necessary.
Can you accommodate corporate or bulk orders?
We certainly can and do!
Do you sell picture lights?
We do! We proudly carry House of Troy picture lights. Our designers would be happy to help you choose a light fixture in the proper design, size and finish to enhance and compliment your framed artwork.
Can you restore a photo or artwork?
We work with multiple vendors to offer a comprehensive selection of conservation services for artwork or other objects that have been damaged or are simply worn with age.
Can you frame 3-dimensional objects?
Absolutely. Whether it’s a shadowbox for a favorite sports jersey, an acrylic case for a treasured sculpture, or a glass vitrine for… well, for whatever! We have multiple solutions for displaying 3 dimensional objects.
Can you repair frames?
Yes we can. Whether it’s a treasured heirloom that has slowly fallen apart over the decades or a brand-new frame that the movers dropped, most likely we can fix it.
Can I reuse a current frame and just have glass and art replaced?
Usually. That depends entirely on the frame in question and the condition it is in, but yes, if your frame can handle it, we can handle it.
